The New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) is an English-language Catholic translation of the Bible, representing the first major update to the New American Bible (NAB) in 20 years. The NAB was originally published in 1970 by the Catholic Biblical Association.
Released on March 9, 2011, the NABRE combines the 1986 revision of the New Testament with a fully revised Old Testament, completed and approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2010.
The original NAB underwent partial updates, including a revised New Testament in 1986 and Psalms in 1991. However, the remainder of the Old Testament had not been revised until the Catholic Biblical Association called for a full update in 1990.
The NABRE is a comprehensive and authoritative Catholic Bible, designed to provide a faithful and modern translation of the Scriptures for both study and devotion.
