Bangladeshi educational technology startup, 10 Minute School, has secured $2 million in seed funding from Surge, Sequoia Capital India's rapid scale-up program. This investment marks a significant milestone as the first EdTech company in Bangladesh to receive funding through Surge. Sequoia Capital India, known for backing early-stage startups across technology and healthcare sectors, aims to bolster 10 Minute School's growth in product development and technological advancement.
Founder and CEO Ayman Sadiq highlighted the pivotal role of online education amidst the pandemic, noting a twelvefold increase in platform usage in 2021. With over 3 million users, 10 Minute School has become the largest learning app in Bangladesh, delivering 8 million learning hours and adding 17,000 new educational videos. The funding will fuel plans to launch live coaching, test preparation courses, and expand their academic resources to support Bangladesh's education system and upskill its youth population.
