Facing new competition from innovative startups like Arc, Google announced on Wednesday the rollout of five new features for the Chrome browser on mobile devices, each designed to elevate the search experience. These enhancements include new shortcuts for local search results, a revamped address bar for easier navigation, trending search suggestions, live sports cards for sports enthusiasts, and more personalized search recommendations tailored to users' browsing habits. These features will be available soon for both Android and iOS devices.

One of the standout features is Chrome Actions, which enables users to perform specific tasks more efficiently without navigating through settings. This functionality is now extended to local search results, allowing users to search for local businesses and quickly access shortcut buttons such as "Call," "Directions," and "Reviews." This feature is currently available on Chrome for Android devices, with an iOS version expected to launch later this fall.

In addition, Google has enhanced the Chrome address bar for iPads and Android tablets. The new design ensures that users can open the Chrome address bar while still viewing the web page they are on, making optimal use of the larger tablet screens for an improved browsing experience.

Moreover, the Chrome browser on iOS and Android devices will now offer new shortcut suggestions based on past searches. For instance, if a user frequently searches for "schedules" and often clicks on the City Metro website, this website will now appear higher in the search suggestions whenever the user searches for "schedules."

Another valuable addition is the inclusion of trending searches, which were previously exclusive to Android devices. Google is now bringing trending search suggestions to the Chrome address bar on iOS, allowing users to see what popular searches are trending across Google Search.

Furthermore, Google has introduced live sports cards in the mobile version of Chrome’s Discover Feed. These cards will inform users when their favorite sports teams are playing and provide automatic updates with the latest scores and highlights from recent games. Users can customize this feature by selecting the three-dot menu in the Chrome mobile app.
